Comment: Hi All Again; I went to Google Earth to take a look at Granite Mt. GMT. I was very much sadden to see nothing. They even removed the concret building slab. The total site is gone. The only remaining land mark, is the runway. Other than that = NOTHING.Take care all and a good 2006.

Comment: I have been facinated with the WACS since I toured the abandonded Anvil Mountain site in 1991. Aside from a fair amount of vandalism, I was amazed at the way it appeared the place had been abandoned in a hurry. It appeared most everything remained just as it was when occupied. What a monumental project the WACS system was.

Comment: I was a Coast Guard Radioman stationed in Adak, Ak. in 1977-78, and learned what White-Alice Tropo Scatter Communications was. In the Radioshack was the local phone list to call for transmitter problems and WAC in case our landline tty was having problems. Adak was a great tour of duty. Great website. It passes time on a slow night shift at work here.
