Longtime Anchorage resident Sandra Reid Hepburn, 67, died peacefully in her sleep Jan. 28, 2010, at her home with her husband by her side.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at All Saints Episcopal Church, Eighth Avenue and F Street.

She was born March 11, 1942, to Grace and John Duncan in Slough, Buckinghamshire, England, where she lived until she immigrated to Anchorage in 1962.

Sandra worked for RCA when she first came to Anchorage, but much of her career was spent, until her retirement in 1998, as a supervisor in customer utility services for the Municipality of Anchorage, where she made many lifelong friends.

For several years after her retirement, she volunteered at the downtown Log Cabin Visitors' center.

She will be remembered by all who loved her for her beautiful smile, big heart, gentle ways and love of children.

Survivors include her husband, John (Ian) Hepburn; daughter, Leslie Hepburn; sister, Linda Parker (Gary); nieces, Julie Jaennette (Ron) and Renee Robertson; nephew, Jerry D. Glenn; and aunts, cousins and extended family in London, Edinburgh, San Francisco Bay area and in the Midwest.

She was preceded in death by her parents and younger sister, Carol Robertson.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made in her name to UNICEF.
