|Harold Leroy Ordway, 71, died Sept. 8, 2009, in Wrangell. A potluck
memorial will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Muldoon VFW Post 9978, 101
Oklahoma St., Anchorage.
Harold was born May 21, 1938, in Seaside, Ore., to Harold and Elsie Ordway. He served in the U.S. Air Force and then went to work for the White Alice System until it was sold. He worked for the Federal Aviation Administration in Alaska for 19 years until his retirement, when he and his wife Arleen moved to Wrangell. Harold was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Palmer. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and being on his boat.
Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Arleen; son, William; stepdaughter, Candee; and stepbrothers, Jack and Don Tate. Harold is survived by his daughters, Susan (David) of Jacksonville, Fla., Nancy Ordway (Jerry Lee), Constance and Cynthia, all of Anchorage; son, Jack (Hattie) Ordway-Polzin of Poteau, Okla.; 25 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; brother, Laury Ordway of Oregon; and sisters, Dorothy Schwehr of Wrangell and Michelle Lindquist of Oregon.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
