Bill Secor, 88

Willard "Bill" Secor, 88, died June 20, 2005, at Providence Alaska Medical Center.

A viewing will be at noon, with a funeral at 1 p.m. Friday at Witzleben's Bragaw Chapel. Burial will be at 3 p.m. at Fort Richardson National Cemetery.

Mr. Secor was born Nov. 23, 1916, in LaCrosse, Wis. He served for 13 years in the Army Air Corps and Air Force. He moved to Alaska in 1946, living in various areas of the DEW line and White Alice sites from the 1950s until the 1970s. In 1978, he moved to Galena where he stayed until he moved to Anchorage in 1995.

Mr. Secor was a commercial pilot, ran heavy equipment, worked in construction and ran power stations in Galena for 17 years. He retired from the military in 1953 and from the Civil Service in 1995.

He enjoyed flying, mining, fishing and hunting.

His family said: "Willard loved his family and living in Alaska. Like all Alaskans, he lived his life to the fullest. We cherish all the memories and time spent with 'Wild Bill.' "

Mr. Secor is survived by his nieces, Kim Everett and Laurie Everett; nephew, Mark Everett; cousins, Sylvia Everett and Peggy Stewart-Butcher, and her sons, Mark and Mike Butcher; and many other relatives and friends.
